This week Gucci & Adidas released there collection across tailoring, sportswear, and accessories.. 

Collaborations are a great way to introduce your brand to new audiences and to do something a little different, but remember it doesn’t have to be a fashion brand, it can be an artist where you like their prints, it could be brand that’s well known in a different category  such as homeware and of course it can be an influencer that is involved in the design process from the beginning. 

Here’s some lessons to learn from it. 

Lesson 1 
Choosing the right partner to collaborate with, think about your values their values, both of your customers, would it make sense to see you both working together. 

Lesson 2 
Create hype 
Not just for brand collabs but for launching a brand too. Building an awareness to the lead up is paramount. 
Get people on the waitlist, give teasers, Gucci & Adidas revealed some of the range in the feb collections but launched 4 months later. 

Lesson 3 
Price structure 
Gucci & Adidas (I’m going to call it Adiucci ) introduced products at a variety of price points from about £400 on accessories to over £2000 for clothing. Whatever you think of the brands or their price points 
The Lesson here is  to introduce products over a range of price points is that people can buy into the brand 

Lesson 4 
Timing! So I didn’t add this in the carousel, but having more people involved will mean that the creative process will take longer than it usually does so schedule in the critical times when product needs to be agreed. 

Lesson 5 
Another bonus one 
Profits share 
Have the conversations early on about what either the percentage is and what the investment is
The adiucci partnership looks fairly even but if you were collaborating with an artist or an influencer. Then it will be more on your team and your costs. 
So will your collaborator get a % of sales or profit and what will that be.
